Food Addiction

Feelings, thoughts and memories can can be overwhelming. Each of us have mechanisms of controlling the overwhelm and hopefully we learn to be  able to rely on healthy crutches such as friends, family, exercise (which can become addictive also) reading, or other hobbies such as art and craft. If we do not have these supports to fall back on we may choose crutches which are less healthy such as; food, cigarettes, sex, and various drugs, which only alleviate the negative feelings short term.

Food addiction is a behaviour which occurs from  the desire to suppress or change a complex set of emotions. The addictive cycle can  be debilitating and result in further overwhelming feelings if food is overeaten/avoided/controlled. By combining CBT, ACT and hypnotherapy, we can start to shift some of these addictive behaviours creating a new empowered YOU.
