• MICHAEL NOWARA •
PSYCHOLOGIST
Picture
Michael is a registered psychologist, with approximately 5 years working within the mental health sector.

Michael began his career working as a phone counsellor in an organisation that helps people with anxiety sufferers. He has also worked with migrant populations from Africa, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Thailand, and many other places, with people from war-torn or difficult circumstances. Most recently, Michael has been working in the disability sector, with clients with both psychosocial and physical disability. Michael has experience working with anxiety-related disorders, depression, PTSD, schizophrenia, relationship difficulties, adjustment disorders, drug addictions, amongst other presentations.

Michael has an interest in working with people who may have a difficulty figuring out what is blocking them from thriving, and exploring creative and inventive solutions with the client. He believes that the best results can be achieved when the client and therapist have a good working relationship, and work as a team to find the answers.

Michael understands that no one approach is best suited to a client, and tries to draw on a range of therapies that are tailored to suit each individual's needs. Michael leans towards an existential and psychodynamic approach to therapy, and also well versed in schema therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and interpersonal therapy.
Michael likes to stay on top of the latest research, and has an interest in new and upcoming research in the fields of DBT and psychedelic therapy.
